$28.04/hr – $37.12/hr (plus $2/hr shift differential for 2nd shift)

Job Summary The Production Technician II - 2nd shift is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying production of assigned products, parts, equipment, and systems under limited direction in support of high‑volume, low‑mix production test operations for our Valves and Transducers value stream.

Work Hours 2nd shift: 2:30 pm – 10:00 pm. During the first few months, initial training will be on the first shift (5:30 am – 2:00 pm). Shift differential of $2/hr will be applied to 2nd shift employees.

Essential Functions

Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to resolve issues in production test operations through completion.

Perform all testing operations within assigned functional area.

Certify as a Crane Designated Quality Assurance Inspector to perform product inspections as required.

Create non‑conformance reports detailing testing performed, resulting failures, and initial root‑cause investigation results.

Interpret and work in accordance with work orders, engineering drawings, functional and acceptance test procedures, failure reports, manuals, and all other applicable engineering and production specifications.

Calibrate or adjust assigned units using techniques such as potentiometer adjustment, clocking, shimming, tension or coil adjustments, bearing and gear adjustments, and perform mathematical calculations for voltage, resistance, current, impedance, amplification, flow rate, mass, mechanical dimensions, and adjustments.

Perform automated testing and performance testing using a variety of automated test equipment and special test consoles to simulate in‑service specifications, including vibe, burn‑in, thermal cycle, leak test, and hydraulic testing.

Perform manual testing involving setup, adjustment, operation, and interpretation of results from standard and special‑purpose test equipment applicable to the assigned product area (e.g., multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, bridges, oscilloscopes, altitude chamber, flow meter, hi‑pot, or hydraulic valves).

Test units in other programs not normally worked on, including units of greater complexity under close supervision.

Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy.

Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI’s, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise.

Be flexible and willing to work overtime as necessary.

Perform any other task assigned by supervisor or management.

Non‑Essential Functions

Support customer visits.

Support internal and external audits.

Perform minimal work under a microscope or soldering.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 2–5 years in a related field, or equivalent educational experience.

Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting methods and procedures, circuitry or mechanical characteristics related to area of assignment, familiarity with product flow through a manufacturing or repair environment, and working knowledge of computer systems.

Skills: Good oral and written expression and comprehension in English.

Abilities: Ability to learn new test software and equipment; manual and finger dexterity; ability to make precisely coordinated movements; ability to work in multiple software systems (e.g., time entry, data entry, online training PDM and MRP).

Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Knowledge of practical application of engineering electronics, science, and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to design and production of goods and services.

Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

Eligibility Requirement

This position requires access to controlled data or information; therefore only US persons will be considered. As a U.S. Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by ITAR.

Working Conditions

Normal for a manufacturing environment.

May require safety equipment: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps, and other required PPE.

May be exposed to loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes.

May require occasional travel to support customers.

Standing: 20% (approximate).

Sitting: 80% (approximate).

Lifting (pounds): up to 35.

Pushing (pounds): up to 100.

Mental/Visual: use of microscope and computer.

Workspace: clean bench.

Salary Salary range: $28.04 – $37.12 per hour, not including the $2/hr shift differential. Some roles may be eligible for performance‑based bonus programs.
