Laboratory Technician – Molecular Screening
We’re seeking a Laboratory Technician – Molecular Screening to join an innovative research and development team in Johnston, Iowa. This hands‑on, lab‑based position is ideal for someone passionate about molecular biology and data‑driven research. You’ll support high‑throughput molecular screening workflows involving Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), qPCR, and related techniques.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining and optimizing molecular screening processes, analyzing experimental data, and driving continuous improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy within the lab.
Base Pay Range $22.00/hr - $23.00/hr
Key Responsibilities
Execute and maintain reliable molecular screening workflows to support genome editing and molecular biology research.
Perform molecular biology experiments including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, and NGS workflows.
Contribute to method development and process improvement studies (data collection, analysis, and reporting).
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and share research insights.
Ensure compliance with lab safety standards, protocols, and documentation requirements.
Maintain accurate records and ensure proper operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Qualifications
Education:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
Experience & Skills:
Hands‑on experience in DNA/RNA extraction, NGS, or qPCR preferred.
Familiarity with gene editing data analysis is an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with LIMS or laboratory databases preferred.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and record‑keeping skills.
Strong communication skills (oral and written).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
