The Nurse Practitioner coordinates decision‑making with the psychiatrist in assessing, diagnosing, and managing psychiatric patients.
The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with a multi‑disciplinary team to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans. The team includes psychiatrists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, mental health technicians, social workers, therapists, and educators. The role requires establishing empathy and a person‑centered approach to patients, recognizing limitations, responding to challenging situations, working independently and self‑motivated, and possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members and clients.
Primary Responsibilities
Completes follow‑up visits after the initial assessment is completed.
Participates in staffing weekly and family sessions as needed.
Prescribes pharmacologic interventions as necessary.
Reviews all applicable laboratory and diagnostic test results.
Consults with the attending psychiatrist when necessary.
Makes referrals for further diagnostic psychological or medical testing as needed.
Communicates with patients, patients’ families, and others to obtain personal and social information pertinent to the patient’s treatment.
Prepares documentation following Ridgeview Institute policies and all regulatory and accrediting bodies.
Works in collaboration with a multi‑disciplinary team to perform clinical assessments.
Establishes empathy and a person‑centered approach to patients.
Recognizes limitations and responds to challenging situations.
Works skillfully in a self‑motivated and independent manner.
Maintains excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members and clients.

What We’re Looking For
Education: Completion of a Master’s Program (Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner) from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in a psychiatric setting.
Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Georgia, current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (ANCC Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner), comprehensive liability insurance, current DEA license, current CPR/First Aid certification, and CPI training certification.
