Delaware Valley Job Corps is an education and training center located in beautiful Callicoon, NY. We are a Center that uses student‑focused programs to ensure successful training and employment placement for each individual we serve. With a capacity of 208 students, we strive to achieve excellence for each student.

Schedule Friday‑Sunday, 1 pm‑10 pm.

Responsibilities

Implement a diverse recreation program ensuring compliance with the recreational schedule.

Oversee the daily supervision of the recreation department and use proper judgment and discretion to resolve student and staff issues and concerns.

Develop and implement a variety of programs to appeal to the student population, promote health and wellness, and post weekly and monthly recreation schedules.

Follow all integrity guidelines and procedures, ensuring no manipulation of student data.

Coordinate recreation activities with CPP and Social Development to include evening programming.

Coordinate staff coverage to ensure student areas are supervised and ensure all staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements.

Coordinate recreation and leadership activities/programs with Center and local community resources.

Ensure safe practices and program compliance within prescribed safety guidelines.

Document student participation and accountability during recreation activities.

Maintain inventory of equipment and material, control their use, recommend purchase of specific equipment and perform repairs as needed.

Maintain overall appearance, condition, and organization of the recreation department facilities.

Produce quality work/assignments in a thorough, timely, and accurate manner.

Maintain appropriate personal attendance, accountability, and work productivity standards.

Plan, prioritize, and organize assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.

Understand and apply job knowledge to effectively complete all required job responsibilities and proactively maintain required skills.

Mentor, monitor, and model the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.

Provide high‑quality supervision and management for the student population, positively influence student behavior, show respect and courtesy to students, and hold them accountable for their actions and behavior.

Provide timely operational support for Center operations to ensure quality programs and services and pursue improvement to fulfill program objectives.

Exchange ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contribute meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge; provide quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.

Effectively articulate thoughts and ideas, identify problems, analyze causes and evaluate appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions, and follow up to ensure prompt/appropriate action is taken and problems are corrected.

Work in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students.

May provide transportation as required.

Accept direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Manager, including assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s of Arts Degree or 1‑year related experience working with youth.

Must possess a valid in‑State Driver’s License and meet Company insurability requirements; CDL preferred.

Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or assess the lift load in order to request necessary assistance.
