Hourly Pay $21.36/hour PLUS $3.00/hour facility differential for hours worked.
Job Description The Nebraska State Penitentiary is seeking maintenance workers to perform daily and routine maintenance throughout our facility.
Duties
Maintain the physical plant with repairs and preventive maintenance.
Perform skilled carpentry work in major renovation and construction of buildings, structures, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, screens, furniture, and cabinets.
Schedule and perform specialized preventative maintenance and repairs for equipment, systems, and machinery to ensure necessary inspection, adjustment, and replacement of parts.
Supervise inmates working in the maintenance department.
Maintain accurate inventory of all stock and commonly used maintenance parts and tool logs.
Follow all policies and procedures relating to tool control and purchasing of tools, equipment, and parts.
Handle maintenance‑related purchases and statement reconciliation.
Minimum Qualifications Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or another building trade. Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations, or training may substitute for education on a year‑for‑year basis as determined appropriate by the agency.
Other Requirements Applicants must pass a medical exam, a drug test at a randomly announced time, and successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program at the Staff Training Academy.
