Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Part Time
Minimum of 20 hours per week. Schedule options: 5–9 am weekdays, 4–8 pm or 10 am–6 pm weekdays and weekends. Flexibility available.
We offer safe, compassionate community-based care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, aiming to empower them to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
Provide direct support and personal care as outlined in individuals’ Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
Assist with daily living skills—personal hygiene, meals, housekeeping, etc.
Support individuals in exercising community integration rights and self‑sufficiency.
Contribute to ISP development by supplying input on needs, interests, and preferences.
Maintain accurate documentation of outcomes, support activities, and significant events (health, mental status).
Complete all required housekeeping duties.
Report changes in behavior, health or appearance to Supervisor.
Administer and document medication responsibly, stay knowledgeable about side effects and medication changes.
Maintain a professional demeanor, even during behavioral or medical emergencies.
Keep the facility clean and report damages.
Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
Be punctual, appropriate dress and maintain a positive attitude.
Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED (preferred).
At least 1 year of care experience with individuals with disabilities.
CNA, NA, or PCA credentials active and certified by the Board of Nursing of Virginia (preferred).
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Knowledge of developmental disabilities.
Familiarity with Home and Community Based Settings.
Strong computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Word and other products.
Effective verbal and written communication.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Efficient organization skills.
Physical Demands & Work Environment Stands, walks, sits and uses hands frequently; may lift or move up to 50 lb. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral and depth perception. Generally not exposed to weather; noise moderate. Some travel may be required.
