Machine Operator
This role installs and maintains AT&T’s state‑of‑the‑art fiber and copper service wire, working independently in the field to place buried service wire and perform repairs, maintenance, and reconnections while coordinating with customers, utilities, and government agencies. Delivering safety‑first, best‑in‑class service is the core focus.
Responsibilities
Locate buried facilities near the route of service wire using appropriate equipment; operate company vehicle with trailer and machinery.
Perform manual excavation using a shovel.
Provide temporary and permanent repairs to low‑voltage buried utilities, sprinkler systems, and sewage field lines.
Conduct periodic maintenance and non‑complex repairs on equipment used on the job.
Read and interpret simple instructions and follow established safety practices and manufacturer specifications.
Qualifications
Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8‑hour shifts with mandatory overtime and holiday availability as required.
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
Proficiency in operating various machinery and tools.
Capacity to lift and move up to 120 lbs.
Use computers, including handheld devices, to update work status and check assignments.
Light commercial driver’s license or equivalent required; ability to drive manual‑shift vehicles.
Maintain a DOT medical card.
Complete required on‑the‑job and/or classroom training.
Demonstrate competency during probation to satisfy qualification requirements.
Previous operating experience with similar equipment is desirable.
Perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Potential travel out of region or state may be required.
Weekly Hours & Time Type 40 hours per week; Regular time type.
