Mechanical Engineer – Constellation – Byron, IL
Overview Constellation is the nation’s largest producer of clean, carbon‑free energy. As a Mechanical Engineer you will support the operations of our Byron Clean Energy facility, applying technical expertise to enhance plant performance and safety.

Expected Salary Range
Mid‑Level: $95,000 – $105,000
Senior Level: $124,000 – $138,000
Primary Purpose Perform advanced technical and engineering problem‑solving in support of nuclear plant operations. Make technical decisions, ensure compliance with industry codes and regulations, and contribute to engineering excellence.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
Provide in‑depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering analysis, activities, and programs.
Consult on equipment and system problems, identifying and resolving issues.
Manage engineering tasks and projects, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.
Apply configuration management and standard design criteria, practices, procedures, and codes in preparing plans and specifications.
Conduct independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses for technical projects.
Recommend equipment, new concepts, and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, or correct design/material flaws.
Respond to emergency situations, call‑outs, and support outage activities as directed by management.
Minimum Qualifications – Mid‑Level (E02)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, civil/structural, electrical, industrial, mechanical, or nuclear) with 2 years of nuclear or related engineering experience.
Meet ANSI/ANS‑3.1‑2014 requirements for personnel selection, qualification, and training.
Maintain required access or unescorted access and favorable medical examination/testing per role duties.
Minimum Qualifications – Senior (E03)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, civil/structural, electrical, industrial, mechanical, or nuclear) with 5 years of nuclear experience or related engineering experience.
Meet ANSI/ANS‑3.1‑2014 requirements for personnel selection, qualification, and training.
Maintain required access or unescorted access and favorable medical examination/testing per role duties.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with raw water systems.
Long‑term asset management experience.
Troubleshooting emergent system issues.
Professional Engineer registration.
Advanced technical degree or related coursework.
