Position Overview
The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and requirements to determine the scope of work, materials, labor, and equipment needed. The Estimator works closely with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure bids are complete, accurate, and aligned with company goals.
Key Responsibilities
Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare detailed cost estimates
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
Develop and maintain cost databases for materials, labor, and equipment
Prepare bid proposals and assist in contract negotiations
Collaborate with project managers to ensure budgets align with project goals
Identify cost-saving opportunities and potential risks
Qualifications
Experience:
2+ years in construction estimating (federal or commercial)
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred)
Skills:
Strong analytical and math skills, proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, or similar), and MS Excel
Knowledge:
Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and industry standards
Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
Problem Solving:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
