The Technical Accounting Manager will play a critical role in building and maintaining a strong accounting foundation for a fast‑growing, multi‑site food manufacturing organization. This role will lead technical accounting research, implement and enhance internal controls, support ERP and systems improvements, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP while partnering closely with Finance, Operations, and external auditors.

This is a hands‑on, builder role ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguous environments, enjoys creating structure, and can translate accounting standards into practical, scalable processes.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary subject‑matter expert on U.S. GAAP and technical accounting matters.

Research, interpret, and document accounting guidance related to:

Revenue recognition

Inventory and cost accounting

Leases (ASC 842)

Fixed assets and capitalization

Debt, equity, and complex transactions

Prepare and maintain technical accounting memos and policy documentation.

Support month‑end and year‑end close processes by resolving complex accounting issues.

Design, implement, and continuously improve internal controls across accounting and finance functions.

Partner with the Controller to establish standardized accounting policies and procedures across all sites.

Identify control gaps and inefficiencies; recommend and implement practical, scalable solutions.

Support audit readiness, SOX‑lite / internal control frameworks, and external audit requests.

Act as a key accounting partner in ERP implementation, optimization, and ongoing enhancements.

Ensure accounting requirements are properly configured in systems (GL, inventory, costing, AP/AR).

Develop and document workflows, controls, and reporting tied to system processes.

Collaborate with IT, Finance, and Operations to improve data integrity and reporting accuracy.

Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Production teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost accounting.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives as needed.

Provide guidance and training to accounting team members on new standards, policies, and processes.

Assist with special projects, acquisitions, integrations, and organizational scaling initiatives.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred).

6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including technical accounting.

Experience implementing or enhancing internal controls in a growing organization.

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting policy development.

Experience in manufacturing, food & beverage, CPG, or inventory‑heavy environments.

Hands‑on experience with ERP systems (implementation or major upgrades preferred).

Advanced Excel skills; comfort working with large data sets.

Public accounting background (Big 4 or national firm).

Experience supporting multi‑site operations.

Prior exposure to private‑equity–backed or high‑growth environments.

Experience partnering closely with Operations and Supply Chain teams.

Builder mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.

Practical problem‑solver who can balance technical rigor with operational realities.

Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders.

Comfortable navigating ambiguity and change in a scaling organization.

Salary Range:

$140,000 – $170,000
