CICS Systems Engineer
Role:
CICS Systems Engineer
Location:
Onsite, preferred in Pittsburgh or Lake Mary (Northern Orlando, FL) with a hybrid in‑office arrangement.
Duration:
9 months or longer.
Summary Team Overview: The CICS Team supports over 700 CICS Regions across several SYSPLEXs, handling all aspects of the CICS product—maintenance, new versions, releases, troubleshooting, performance tuning, enhancements, z/OS Connect, CPSM, and CICS Explorer. The team evaluates new tools and maintains a world‑class platform for the client, interfacing with business and technical stakeholders.
The incumbent will implement vendor software maintenance, perform performance tuning, troubleshoot issues, and provide business‑unit support and testing. The role requires participation in a 24x7 on‑call rotation to ensure high system availability. Responsibilities include planning and prioritizing projects in alignment with departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities
Daily support and upkeep of the Mainframe CICS Environment and supporting products.
Work with IBM and vendor utilities and collaborate with technical groups to support real‑time business functions.
Hands‑on experience with z/OS versions and releases (CICS TS V5.5 & V6.1, CPSM, CICS Explorer, z/OS Connect, SMF, DFSMS, JCL, DFHSM, DFDSS, FDR, SYNCSORT, SMPE, TSO, SDSF, RACF, SVC Dumps, ACF2, MQ, CA Sysview, TCP/IP, CAFC, IPCS, DB2, VSAM).
Utilize ServiceNow (Project, Incident, and Change Management) and coordinate with the user community and vendor support personnel.
Provide 24x7 on‑call support on a rotational basis.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in CICS.
B.S. or B.A. or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree beneficial; certification beneficial.
Knowledge of CICS/TS internals and operations.
Proficient in JCL and vendor utility programs.
Strong analytical and debugging skills; knowledge of COBOL and CICS Command Level language programming.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience with z/OS Connect and/or z/OSMF.
