Job Summary The Patient Service Center Representative II provides a positive patient experience by efficiently managing day‑to‑day financial clearance and scheduling responsibilities. The role verifies eligibility and benefits, secures pre‑authorization, offers financial counseling, and collects payments while ensuring accurate appointment scheduling. The representative may also handle complex pre‑registration tasks as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Schedule appointments and provide callers with necessary information such as test preparation, directions, and order management.
Verify patient demographic, insurance eligibility, and determine financial responsibility.
Secure payment for patients’ financial liability and perform collection efforts.
When assigned to order management, confirm orders match scheduled procedures and export physician orders to the correct account number.
If assigned to complex pre‑registration: collect and verify required demographic and financial data; create a complete pre‑registration account for inpatient/surgical admissions; complete all pre‑certification requirements by obtaining insurer authorization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work in a production‑driven call‑center environment.
Familiarity with dual computer monitors and Windows‑based systems.
Basic typing skills and multitasking ability across multiple financial and scheduling systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience
Required: High school diploma or GED.
Preferred: Two or more years of college, or equivalent experience in a professional, customer‑service‑driven environment.
Preferred: Telephone/call‑center experience.
Preferred: Pre‑registration and/or scheduling experience.
Preferred: 2–3 years of customer service experience.
Compensation
Pay: $15.80 – $23.70 per hour; depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
May be eligible for a signing bonus for qualified new hires, subject to employment status.
Observed holidays receive time and a half.
