Perform KYC for new and existing clients through new onboarding process and periodical / ad-hoc review in line with the local legal & regulatory requirements, as well as MUFG’s global & local compliance rules (including policies, standards and manuals). Clients to cover are Japanese and global corporates, FI including correspondent banks. Monitor and control end-to-end process so that the KYC files would be circulated in a timely manner.
Elevate the FLoD’s capability in terms of AML and compliance. This includes, but not limited to, finding issues in day-to-day process, revising KYC Operating Manual and KYC Customer Due Diligence (“CDD”) & Customer Risk Rating Tool (“CRRT”) files and workflow where necessary, dealing with internal and external audit.
The role is expected to take initiative to strengthen knowledge and risk ownership across FLoD teams as experienced subject matter expert. Support and motivate junior colleagues in Japanese CBD especially, to enhance his/her knowledge & expertise. The subsequent aim is to enhance team capacity so that RM shall focus on marketing and better serve the customers.
Take the lead on risk-related initiatives within Japanese CBD, such as RCSA and GRA etc.
Prepare business management reports, required from time to time, to monitor credit portfolio, operational risk and quality, including exposure monitoring report, risk control assessment, pending items control, etc.
Key tasks of performing KYC encompass customer identification and verification, customer screening, CDD, CRR. Typical daily tasks would include, but not limited to:
Collecting and obtaining necessary documents from internal and external stakeholders (MUFG offices and clients);
Verifying the identifying of the customer and related parties (shareholders, parent companies, UBO etc) with valid documents;
Running due diligence and judging customers’ exposure to sanctioned countries or territories through necessary screenings and media search, which some case requires further coordination with internal Compliance and beyond;
Downloading, checking and analysing the relevant transaction numbers and volumes within the specified period of time;
Identifying and escalating red flags and other potentially suspicious activities to the relevant parties in a timely manner during on-boarding and throughout the customer relationships;
Closely liaising with Relationship Manager (“RM”) in the relevant departments to plan and structure circulation timing and execute these files in a timely manner. Due date control and proactive progress check would be a key for smoother business of the teams. This may require further progress reporting to senior management;
Making sure that all evidences, related logs and check results are saved in the relevant folder in good order for smoother review and future audit;
Facilitating the customers’ dormant, re-activate and exit process when required;
Fulfilling any kind of duties which might be requested by the line managers, other than those stated in this job description, in accordance with laws and our bank’s regulation and codes of conduct.
