Austin Oaks Hospital is an 80‑bed facility that offers a broad spectrum of psychiatric services for adults and children ages 4 to 17. Located on a beautiful 13‑acre oak‑lined campus, the hospital provides a home‑like environment that promotes crisis resolution, positive self‑awareness, social skills, and personal growth. Position Summary Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) – Nights. This role responds to incoming referral and admission calls, assesses patients’ psychiatric and medical status, documents all inquiries, and supports the interdisciplinary treatment team. Responsibilities include crisis intervention, leadership of mental health technicians, and administration of medication as prescribed.
Responsibilities
Respond to incoming calls for referrals and admissions.
Assess patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
Document all inquiries, referrals, and admissions accurately in the computer system and on proper forms.
Ensure referral patient medical record information is completed and nursing/clinical staff are informed of the patient’s condition and history.
Copy, distribute, and prepare referral material in unit charts as required.
Assess, direct, and intervene in crisis situations.
Provide leadership and direction to mental‑health technicians.
Contribute to the treatment plan as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
Administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing. (BSN preferred)
Current Texas State Registered Nurse License.
Current CPR or BLS certification.
Aggressive Behavior Management training within 90 days of hire.
One year of experience in a psychiatric inpatient setting (preferred).
