Position Summary Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) NIGHTS

Respond to incoming calls to the hospital to coordinate referrals and admissions.

Provide assessment of patients' psychiatric and medical status.

Ensure all inquiries, referrals, and admissions are documented accurately in the computer system and on proper forms.

Ensure referral patient medical record information is completed and nursing and clinical staff are apprised of the patient's condition/history.

Copy and distribute referral material and prepare unit charts as required.

Assess, direct, and intervene in crisis situations.

Provide leadership and direction to mental health technicians.

Contribute to treatment plan as a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing. Preferred: BSN.

Licensure / Certification:

Current Texas State Registered Nurse License, Current CPR or BLS certification, Aggressive Behavior Management training within 90 days of hire date.

Experience:

One year of experience working in a psychiatric inpatient setting (preferred).
