The Cath Lab-RN coordinates and provides care utilizing the critical thinking framework known as the nursing process for cardiac patients through interventional procedures. The nursing process forms the foundation of the nurse's decision making to help partner with patients/families to attain, maintain and restore health whenever possible. Blends caring, compassion, knowledge and integrity to provide safe quality care that preserves patient autonomy, dignity and rights.

Responsibilities

Administer care for heart disease and heart attack patients by obtaining visual diagnostics of the arteries of the heart.

Identify blockages, assisting the physician during procedures, and monitoring the patient’s status at other times.

Administer interventional procedures like cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, pacemaker and/or defibrillator implantation, and related interventional or diagnostic procedures.

Develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care.

Administers medications as prescribed.

Provides patient, family, and/or significant other health teaching/education.

Participates in activities designed to improve health care delivery.

Communicates/collaborates with others in providing patient care.

Provides clinical leadership.

Supports lifelong learning.

Completes assigned goals.

Specifications Experience

2 years experience in a Cath Lab unit

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Licensure

RN; BLS Certification within 14 days of hire
