Job Overview Monitoring building equipment for safety, troubleshooting refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical and electrical problems, performing repairs, documenting solutions, and making recommendations for further action. Salary: $26.25 – $56.20 hourly. This position is based in the Central Coast area, covering Ventura, Oxnard and surrounding cities, responding into the Fullerton, CA Division Office.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Make daily mechanical checks on equipment in the Mechanical Room, Roof, HVAC, EMS systems, refrigerated cases and walk‑ins.
Maintain all refrigeration, HVAC, EMS systems, electrical, and mechanical systems and perform necessary repairs.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks, leak checks, inspections, record required information, and maintain CARB and EPA forms in both paper and digital formats.
Monitor preventive maintenance by outside contractors and notify the Area Refrigeration Manager of any issues.
Resolve refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical and electrical problems, document solutions, and recommend further action.
Maintain high technical proficiency in troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
Manage communications for service calls in a timely manner.
Maintain current license, inspection, permit, and certificate requirements to meet all state and local codes.
Operate EMS building controls and automation systems, fine‑tune operating parameters, adjust set points and schedules, and modify building control sequences.
Perform administrative tasks such as ordering material, writing purchase orders, and data entry for work reports and refrigerant leak reports via iPad.
Perform all duties in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.
Maintain a neat, clean, and safe work area in the mechanical room, roof, and service vehicle.
Be willing to work overtime on weekends, holidays, and after‑hours when on call.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a building‑related vocational‑technical program is preferred.
Minimum of three years recent experience performing refrigeration service and maintenance in building‑related trades.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High degree of accuracy and care to avoid mechanical breakdowns.
Ability to respond quickly to direct and radio requests.
Maintain a neat uniform appearance with company‑provided work shirt and clean blue jeans without holes or tears.
Wear required personal protective equipment, including arc flash and safety glasses.
Computer literate.
Valid driver’s license.EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
Ability to read and comprehend manuals, prints, and work orders.
Knowledge of tools and equipment maintenance.
General record‑keeping skills.
Customer‑service orientation and sensitivity to diverse needs of coworkers and others contacted daily.
Ability to work independently.
Physical Environment
Work performed indoors and outdoors.
Manual labor required.
May use trade tools and office equipment during a normal workday.
Stooping, bending, twisting, lifting, and reaching required.
