Job Opportunity: Correctional Officer I at Trinidad Correctional Facility
The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Correctional Officer I at Trinidad Correctional Facility (TCF). This facility, located 15 miles east of Trinidad, Colorado, covers 544 acres and has been operational since December 2001. It is a Level 2 Minimum Restrictive facility designed to accommodate up to 500 inmates, with a focus on safety, security, and offender reintegration.
About Trinidad Correctional Facility TCF supports offender reintegration through initiatives like RESTORE and programs such as Honor House. The facility offers various educational, vocational, and life skills programs, including GED and college courses, vocational training in construction and IT, cognitive education programs, and family support initiatives.

Position Overview The Correctional Officer I maintains safety and security within CDOC facilities, supporting the mission and values of the department. Responsibilities include inmate supervision, security monitoring, emergency response, and ensuring facility safety.
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED.
Required Competencies
Strong work ethic, integrity, and dependability
Sound judgment and decision-making skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in stressful situations and handle emergency responses
Knowledge of criminal justice systems and correctional methods
Physical ability to perform duties, including searches and defensive tactics
Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Conditions of Employment Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S., possess a valid driver’s license, have no felony convictions, pass a background check, and successfully complete training and health screenings. Additional conditions include willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and adhere to department policies.
