Job Description The Department of Visual Art and Design (DOVAD) at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah seeks a Visiting Faculty Member (non-tenure track) for a one–year appointment with the possibility for renewal for up to three years total. The position includes a full-time undergraduate teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester—typically three courses a semester. The appointment begins July 1, 2026.

Ideal candidates will be prepared to teach lens-based media (photography, video, or expanded media) to undergraduate students in a flexible range of levels. Half of the teaching load should be taught in the department’s Foundations and General Education courses, as needed. Visiting Faculty should maintain an active, contemporary studio practice, and take advantage of DOVAD’s well-appointed facilities as well as research and professional development grants at the college and university level. This is an excellent position for artists interested in gaining academic experience in a supportive, collaborative context. Weber State offers teaching support and resources through the university’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

Required Qualifications

MFA in studio art from an accredited university is required by July 1, 2026.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching at the university level.

Active studio practice and exhibition record.

Ability to teach courses in photography and/or video, and in the department’s Foundations and General Education areas.

Salary and Benefits The annual salary for this position starts at $55,000. The position comes with a generous benefits package.
