McCandlish Holton
The Civil Litigation Practice Group at McCandlish Holton aggressively defends cases throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and Maryland in both state and federal court. This group predominantly handles personal injury matters and seeks to add an additional paralegal to our team to help manage its growing case load.
Our paralegals and attorneys work closely together in a team environment that is positive, fast paced, and deadline focused. We seek talented team members who are well organized, have good independent time management skills, are detail oriented, and adaptable with the willingness and ability to both learn and implement a defined prioritization system.
Successful candidates will have demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills as well as be able to read and understand legal documents at an advanced level.
A college degree or relevant, related experience is required. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills are a must.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Managing multiple cases from file opening to trial or settlement
Assisting with drafting discovery objections, Answers/Responses, and obtaining information from clients for same
Obtaining and reviewing medical records to create detailed chronological summaries for attorney review
Drafting various legal documents such as subpoenas duces tecum, witness subpoenas, notices of hearing or deposition, and FOIA requests
Work to support attorneys with preparation for hearings, depositions, mediations, trial, and other case events
Assisting with maintenance of case filing system as well as team case list to ensure deadlines are accurate and case status are up to date
Track and notate all tasks completed using billing software
Check/monitor dockets for relevant case information
