Salary Range:

$48,000 – $56,000. Personalized salary reflecting your related experience and academic/credentialed background.

The Senior Counselor works at a maximum level of independence and responsibility, often sharing responsibility for program operations with the Program Director. The majority of time is spent in direct client services, providing crisis and ongoing counseling and psychotherapy to new and ongoing clients.

ACT (Assertive Community Treatment)

is a program designed to deliver comprehensive and effective services to individuals who are diagnosed with SPMI and whose needs have not been well met by more traditional service delivery approaches. The nature and intensity of ACT services are developed through the person‑centered service planning process and adjusted through the process of daily team meetings. The ACT Aspire Team serves ages 18+ in Erie County.

Responsibilities

Provide clinical supervision to assigned staff; may supervise student interns.

Review and sign treatment plans developed by program staff.

Assign new cases to staff according to client needs and staff skills.

Conduct utilization reviews of client charts to determine completeness, appropriateness of treatment, and medical necessity for continued care or recommendations for alternate care.

Provide initial and ongoing assessments of clients, including client history, evaluation of problems, and formulation of diagnosis.

Develop initial and ongoing treatment plans describing the goals of treatment and the methods to be used.

Provide individual, family, and group counseling and psychotherapy to assist clients in achieving the goals of treatment.

Assist clients with linkages to appropriate community resources to enhance treatment and recovery.

Communicate with others in client service systems to coordinate care, with appropriate releases of information; such contacts may include primary care physicians, insurance companies, and other service providers involved in the care of clients.

Schedule and assigned duties are subject to change based on the needs of the program and the clients we serve.

Qualifications

Minimum Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or CASAC‑T/CASAC‑P required.

Professional licensure: LMSW, LMFT, MHC‑P, CASAC, CRC, LMHC, LCSW preferred.

Knowledge of a variety of common intervention techniques, mental health diagnoses, substance use interventions and resources.

Excellent communication skills.

Familiarity with community resources to appropriately link clients.

Minimum proficiency with Windows‑based software applications required.

Experience with Electronic Medical Records databases and basic computer skills.

Appreciation of cultural diversity and awareness of cross‑cultural counseling issues.

Valid driver’s license, a vehicle in working condition (with valid inspection, registration, and insurance), ability to travel between sites, and completion of a defensive driving course (only applicable for some of our community & mobile programs).
