Manager of Recreation - The Hershey Lodge

This position is designed to collaborate closely with the Director of Recreation and assist in managing the Recreation Department at the Hershey Lodge. The role will oversee the aquatics facilities and recreational activities, with an emphasis on recreational activities, and assist in the planning, training, ordering, maintaining inventory, and hiring for the Hershey Lodge Recreation Department.

Job Duties
Oversee daily activities, pool operations, lifeguards, and activities staff to ensure that guest needs are met while maintaining a safe and fun atmosphere.
Hire, train, motivate, develop, and manage the performance of staff to provide adequate coverage for all recreation functions.
Prepare materials and other resources to ensure the appropriate, timely, and thorough training for all recreation positions, including coordinating and implementing lifeguard training classes, monitoring lifeguard certifications, and hosting weekly in‑service trainings for lifeguards.
Maintain proper water conditions, including chemical levels in swimming pools.
Ensure the cleanliness of the facilities by enforcing and maintaining safety, health, and sanitation practices that meet guest expectations and property standards.
Assist with the development and execution of special events, including themed weekends and group activities/services for Hershey Lodge transient guests and convention groups.
Collaborate closely with vendors to manage logistics, establish billing procedures, and coordinate delivery.
Facilitate the execution of weekly activities by collaborating with various departments to deliver exceptional ongoing experiences that surpass guest expectations.
May perform in the capacity of a Hershey Character with confidence and professionalism.
Conduct and attend department and property meetings. Support lifeguards and activities attendants by filling in as needed.
Resolve and follow up on any complaints, issues, injuries, or other concerns to ensure resolutions effectively meet guest needs and provide excellent customer service.
Assist with purchasing and ordering recommendations to align with the department's needs.
Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly inventory on equipment and supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of related experience; at least 1 year of lifeguard experience.
Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
Minimum age 18 years.
Completion of Jeff Ellis & Associates International Pool and Lifeguard Training Programs (Shallow Water and Instructor).
CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
Current Pesticide License preferred.
Current Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certifications preferred.
Designated as Safety Sensitive; successful completion and passing of a pre‑employment drug test required.
Compliance with Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law: ability to obtain and maintain a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police, Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services, and Fingerprint‑based federal criminal history.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of Google Suite/Workplace.
Proven employee/guest relations, problem‑solving, and organization skills.
Professional image representative of property image.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment characterized by frequent changes.
Ability to maintain flexible scheduling to address departmental needs.
Job Demands
