Offer Description IBEI invites applications for a Predoctoral Researcher position
within the project Measuring Institutional Independence: A comparative framework for the study of public bodies (IN2PB)
(PID2024-162289NB-I00), funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU) and the State Research Agency (AEI), with co-funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF/EU). The project is led byXavier Fernández i Marín (Universitat de Barcelona) andJacintJordana (Universitat Pompeu Fabra and Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals-IBEI). The position is offered under the framework of the Proyectos de Generación del Conocimiento 2024 and the associated Actuaciones para la formación de personal investigador predoctoral programmes. Predoctoral contracts are financed by the MICIU/AEI and the European Social Fund Plus (FSE+)/EU.
The successful candidate should be enroll in a PhD program of a IBEI partner university in Barcelona and will be fully integrated into IBEI’s vibrant research environment.
Expected start date: no later than May 2026
Duration: 4 years
Responsibilities
Contribute to data collection, organization, and analysis (surveys, interviews, document corpus).
Support the preparation of academic publications, research reports, and policy briefs.
Participate in scientific dissemination (conferences, seminars, workshops).
Develop and complete a doctoral dissertation aligned with the project themes
Candidate Profile
Official Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Sociology, Economics, Public Administration, or related fields.
Academic record meeting the eligibility criteria for admission to the PhD Program in Political Science.
Strong motivation to pursue a doctoral thesis related to the project.
Excellent command of English (oral and written).
Desirable Qualifications
Skills in quantitative data analysis and software.
Experience in qualitative research (interviews, document analysis).
Interest in governance, political institutions and public policy analysis.
