Position Inside Sales Category Manager – Trailer and Towing

at Meyer Distributing, Jasper, IN.

Overview Meyer Distributing is a wholesale distributor with over 85 locations nationwide. The Inside Sales Category Manager will provide customer‑focused insights, develop long‑term category strategies, and collaborate across teams to grow the trailer and towing product lines.

Responsibilities and Duties

Analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends.

Devise long‑term development strategies for product categories.

Develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products.

Foster trust relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services.

Determine positioning of a product category to maximize visibility.

Liaise with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities.

Collaborate with buyers and merchandisers to expand product categories.

Make forecasts for product demand to ensure inventory sustainability.

Assume responsibility of budget development and revenue for category.

Assist with the planning of sales exhibits.

Attend trade shows.

Participate in education and training conferences on selling and marketing programs.

Coordinate and assist in leading sales meetings, including site selection and agenda preparation.

Keep informed of new products, services, and other general information of interest to customers.

Check on competitive activity and develop new methods to attain resellers and assist resellers in obtaining new accounts.

Manage a team of salespeople and ensure company standards are upheld.

Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent years of experience.

Relevant experience within a specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility.

Solid knowledge of category management, marketing, and sales principles.

Knowledge of CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to understand and analyze sales performance metrics.

Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills.

Strong communication and team management skills.

Analytical skills with a problem‑solving attitude.

Minimum one month on‑the‑job training required.
