We’re seeking an experienced Service Technician to support the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of wind turbines at our Wellsburg, IA wind farm. The role involves routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, along with tower climbing and record keeping.
A Snapshot of Your Day A local Wind Service Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of wind turbines, ensuring the wind farm produces reliable power. They perform a range of duties including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, as well as climbing towers for inspections and repairs. They also contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of the wind farm by following safety protocols, maintaining records, and assisting with other tasks as needed.
How You’ll Make An Impact
Routine Maintenance: Performing scheduled maintenance checks, inspections, and lubrication on wind turbine components.
Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with wind turbines.
Safety: Ensuring all work activities are performed safely, adhering to safety protocols and procedures, and providing safety training.
Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and performance data.
Tower Climbing: Climbing wind turbine towers for inspections and repairs, requiring specialized climbing skills and equipment.
Component Replacement: Replacing or repairing worn-out or damaged wind turbine components.
What You Bring
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; an associate’s degree in a related field is a plus.
Experience: Previous experience in wind turbine maintenance or a related field is preferred but not required.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and repair complex technical issues.
Safety Knowledge: Understanding of safety protocols and LOTO procedures.
Physical Fitness: Ability to climb wind turbine towers and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions; must meet body weight restriction of 265 pounds or less.
Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with team members and supervisors.
Valid driver’s license.
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
