Maintenance Mechanic – Line Changeovers & Equipment Troubleshooting
Location: Bridgeview, IL – 2nd Shift: 1:00 PM – wearer 11:00 PM, Mon–Thu (occasional Friday OT). Pay: $28–$35 /hr based on experience.
Role Summary Randstad USA seeks an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to support daily production through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and line changeovers on automated packaging lines in a consumer packaged goods manufacturer.
Qualifications & Skills
5+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance
Strong knowledge of AC electrical systems (up to 480 V), PLCs, motors, and drives
Experience with automated filling and packaging machinery preferred
Proficient in mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting
Must provide own tools
High school diploma or GED required
Forklift certification a plus
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to interpret schematics, diagrams, and perform detailed maintenance tasks independently
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus, but not required
Physical & Work Environment Must be able to lift/move 50 + lbs regularly, work in hot or cold environments, extend standing, kneeling, and use hand tools. Hearing, eye, and hand protection required on the floor. No Sunday shifts.
Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance, breakdown response, and equipment installations
Troubleshoot electrical (up to 480 V), pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
Execute efficient line changeovers prior to shift starts to ensure readiness for eskip production
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and geometric drawings
Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication as needed for repairs and installations
Identify and correct unsafe work conditions following LOTO and PPE standards
Assist with facility maintenance and contribute to a clean, safe, and team‑oriented environment
Complete job tasks independently and document work completed
Flexible to work 10–12 hour shifts, including Saturdays for PMs donated and emergency repairs
Compensation & Benefits
