Project Development Coordinator for Brooklyn Forestry

The Environment and Planning division includes Central Forestry programs, Forestry Operations, the Natural Resources Group, Nurseries, and Planning teams. We are committed to attracting and retaining a diverse staff and we encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
Major Responsibilities
Under the Borough Forestry Director and Senior Coordinator, identify and advise on emerging Forestry issues and oversee initiatives for improving the organization, quality and service-delivery capacity of Borough Forestry operations.
Spearhead and independently manage special projects for development of operations management tools.
Represent the Agency and division in various venues; lead outreach to stakeholders to identify and resolve complex issues.
Maintain and develop datasets, manuals, website content and related resources. Perform data entry. Address quality assurance and data quality issues.
Analyze Forestry data using ArcGIS and Excel and prepare complex briefings and reports.
Schedule and track completion of required Agency and borough trainings.
Manage purchasing for Borough Forestry; review requests, obtain quotes, and facilitate procurement.
Schedule and manage sidewalk consultations.
Coordinate with Parks Legal and City Law Department to schedule Examination Before Trials (EBTs).
Draft and edit correspondence related to Brooklyn Forestry issues, ensuring all Correspondence SLAs are met. Answer phones and manage Forestry communications.
Minimum Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Preferred Skills
Strong knowledge of Forestry public service delivery goals familiarity with general operations management.
Strong skills in interpersonal communication, stakeholder facilitation, project planning and execution, problem solving, writing, and presentation.
Proficiency with ArcGIS, ForMS (the Agency’s tree management software program), and Microsoft Excel familiarity with SharePoint and SQL.
Valid New York State driver license.
