Registered Nurse – General Surgery Clinic – Baton Rouge
Ochsner Health invites you to serve as a Registered Nurse in our General Surgery Clinic in Baton Rouge. You will provide patient care using the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. You will delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members; assume accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibit cultural sensitivity; and support the company’s nursing philosophy.

Education Required – Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Preferred – Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Work Experience Required – None. Preferred – Experience directly supervising or managing others.
Certifications Required – Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice. Required – Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Preferred – Certification in clinical specialty area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) Good organizational and time‑management skills and ability to be self‑directed and demonstrate good judgment. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work with and maintain confidential information. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision. Leadership skills.
Job Duties Effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families and other groups or disciplines. Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) and serve as a leader on the interdisciplinary team. Use data, information and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes. Embrace concepts that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication style. Perform other related duties as required.
Physical & Environmental Demands Heavy work: lift 50–100 pounds occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, or 10–20 pounds constantly; tasks involve walking, standing or moving objects. Exposure to blood, body fluids and tissues, and hazardous medications or waste is possible in patient care areas.
