Job Responsibilities

Oversee the entire Girls Softball Program.

Be knowledgeable about the game, particularly game management and rules.

Develop, monitor, supervise, and train student-athletes to play Softball.

Develop and execute an effective training program.

Motivate and mentor student-athletes on and off the field.

Instruct and guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.

Promote moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self‑discipline, and self‑confidence.

Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development.

Ensure the safety and well‑being of student‑athletes.

Cooperate, in a timely manner, with the School Athletic Director and District Athletic Department regarding requests for information that might be pertinent or periodically required.

Meet all district and state requirements for Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).

Check the academic eligibility status of all prospective student‑athletes.

Follow District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook.

Model the expected behavior of student‑athletes, including timeliness, positivity, respect, constructive criticism, and discipline.

Maintain appropriate sideline conduct and language at all times.

Accept and learn from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.

Implement all applicable administrative policies set by the District Board, Superintendents, Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.

Schedule and complete a full season of contests, including state tournament games.

Provide all applicable in‑season and out‑of‑season training rules to student‑athletes prior to the start of the season; follow due process when violations occur.

Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.

Participate in school events such as awards nights, pep assemblies, and booster meetings.

Ensure the team is well‑prepared for opponents.

Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.

Skills & Qualifications

Fundraising experience.

Passion and dedication to inspire student‑athletes.

Previous football experience preferred.

Ability to motivate and inspire student‑athletes.

Serve as a positive role model.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with the sport.

Training & Certifications

Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.

Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school and/or college level required.

Successful completion of County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check.

Possession of an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).

Proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.
