Base pay range $70,000.00/yr – $75,000.00/yr

Purple Magpie Mandarin offers full-time and part-time daycare/preschool options. Purple Magpie Mandarin is a Chinese‑immersion daycare and preschool in West Los Angeles, bordered by Culver City, Mar Vista, Marina del Rey, and Playa Vista. We pride ourselves on providing the highest level of care and education for our students, with emphasis on individual attention (~5:1 student/teacher ratios) and activity‑based learning. We are looking for a Chinese Preschool Lead Teacher and will pay competitively. Fit is the most important factor.

Roles And Responsibilities

Provide a safe and loving environment for all students

Lead daily activities, such as art and crafts projects, reading, dancing, singing, STEM experiments, and more

Guide and supervise any assistant teachers

Work with School Director to develop curriculum and projects each week

Monitoring and ensuring safety of all students

Preparing food and helping students eat

Diaper changes

Cleaning and sterilizing of equipment and environment

Preferred Qualifications

Fluent in Mandarin Chinese (Required)

Meet all state teaching experience, education and additional state requirements if hired including at least 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units with 3 specific infant/toddler units (Required)

At least 1 year of relevant teaching experience in an infant/toddler teacher role (Required)

4+ years of relevant teaching experience (Preferred)

A collaborative spirit and eagerness to learn

Proactively seeks out resources for continual development

Finds joy in working with children

Knowledge of infant early learning/development and group care settings, including knowledge of current research, regulations, and best practices

Understanding of Reggio, RIE and Montessori (Preferred)

Demonstrate full range of motion to lift, reach, squat, climb, sit, walk, bend and otherwise fully participate in activities.

Ability to stand for extended period of times.

Ability to physically handle children between 0-6 years of age and to lift children up to 50 pounds.

Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirements.

Respond immediately and appropriately to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies.

Follow state, federal, and school guidelines regarding immunizations, employment physical, and required health and safety training and practices.

The candidate must be fluent in Mandarin Chinese and have at least 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units with 3 specific infant/toddler units. A minimum of 1 year of relevant teaching experience in an infant/toddler teacher role is required, with 4+ years preferred. The candidate should have a collaborative spirit, eagerness to learn, and a joy in working with children. Knowledge of infant early learning/development, group care settings, and understanding of Reggio, RIE, and Montessori methods are preferred.
