Assistant Superintendent Golf Course City of Moorhead
The City of Moorhead Village Green Golf Course is seeking a qualified and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Golf Course Assistant Superintendent. In this role, you will work closely with the Superintendent to ensure the overall maintenance and management of the golf course. You will supervise and participate in preparing and maintaining public course and related facilities, prepare and maintain records and files, assist the Park Maintenance and Street Division in the winter months, and perform related work as required. This position exercises general supervision over assigned staff. The ideal candidate will have a passion for golf course management, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Essential Functions
Perform golf duties as needed when courses are open or preparing to open, and perform Street Division and/or Park Maintenance work in the winter months as directed.
Supervise assigned personnel; set goals, coordinate daily golf maintenance activities, monitor work, conduct employee evaluations, assist with recruitment and training, and resolve discipline/grievance issues.
Assist the Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent with planning, organizing, developing and supervising procedures for the maintenance and upkeep of the golf course, grounds, fairways, tees, greens, and clubhouse.
Assist with budget recommendations, capital expenditures, and monitoring of the approved budget.
Operate equipment associated with golf course maintenance, such as greens, fairway and rough mowers, utility carts, tractors, sprayers, etc.
Apply fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides and fungicides; maintain fertilizer and chemical records.
Assist with the development of schedules for mowing and trimming to maintain ideal playing conditions.
Maintain inventory; notify Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent when purchase of required equipment or specialized tools is needed.
Monitor and maintain golf course irrigation systems; assist with installation of irrigation systems and drainage fields.
Perform routine repairs of turf maintenance and other equipment.
Prepare and maintain appropriate records, files and reports.
Perform snow and ice control duties or other Street Division and/or Park Maintenance duties during winter months; including park trail clearing, outside rink maintenance and street maintenance.
Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; Associate’s or Technical degree preferred.
One year experience in a related field.
Must obtain a Minnesota Certified Pesticide Applicator License within 3 months of hire.
Valid driver’s license.
Valid commercial driver’s license with Class “B” and air brake endorsement within 6 months of hire.
