Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP is seeking candidates interested in careers in the legal profession for a two‑year position supporting the work of the Firm’s Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits, Litigation, Private Funds and Real Estate practices. Job Summary The Paralegal is eager to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment and is responsible for performing a broad variety of tasks supporting a practice group. This role works under the direction of an experienced attorney or Senior Paralegal.

Responsibilities

Maintain well‑organized client files and records in compliance with Firm guidelines

Update document management platforms and databases and categorize documents for efficient accessibility

Create calendars, manage deadlines and distribute materials as necessary

Retrieve and prepare materials as needed by legal teams

Prepare documents for filing and submission, including proofreading, formatting, and compiling exhibits, appendices and trackers

Arrange filing and service deliveries with appropriate government agencies, courts, and opposing/other parties

Assist with document collection and production

Track documents, deliveries and end‑to‑end project tasks to ensure timely completion

Conduct research from a variety of resources such as newspapers, magazines, libraries, case documents and trade associations, and internal and external document databases and systems

Liaise with internal departments and outside vendors

Collaborate with legal teams on assigned projects to ensure a specific outcome or standard

Perform other tasks as assigned by legal teams

Be flexible to adjust hours to meet departmental needs

Required Skills

Strong attention to detail, working with appropriate controls to ensure end‑to‑end project completion and proofreading work product

Excellent organizational and communication skills

Proficiency in MS Office applications

Able to work in a fast‑paced environment, both independently and on a team

Flexibility, time management and ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines

Critical thinking and solution‑oriented mindset

Present information clearly, concisely and accurately, both verbally and in writing

Self‑starter who can organize, plan and multi‑task to complete work activities

Ability to proofread for contextual, grammatical and spelling errors

Flexibility to work late and on holidays/weekends, and travel when necessary

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree

Salary Information NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $60,000 – $65,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is non‑exempt, meaning it is overtime pay eligible.
