On-Call Sanitation and Safety Steward
Summary:
Cleans and fills Dining Services equipment, maintains facility cleanliness, and performs other duties described below.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate the entire dish room, including all ware‑washing equipment and processes; notify supervisor of malfunctioning equipment.
Fill milk urns, ice bins, water coolers, and replace soda/beverage tanks when needed.
Sweep, scrub, vacuum, and mop floors throughout the facility as assigned; perform daily cleaning of all equipment and areas.
Clean exhaust hoods and filters when necessary.
Assist with the infirmary cart and proper receiving and storage of all food and non‑food items.
Assist with delivery, set‑up, and staffing of catered events as assigned.
When assigned to the Spa, stock beer and wine.
Filter grease daily as assigned.
Assist in bleaching dishes, burnishing silver, and washing walls, ceilings, and baseboards.
Interact with customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
Perform custodial‑type work within dining halls and the Spa as required.
Set up, clean, and operate all necessary equipment.
Assist in cleaning and food preparation duties as directed by a supervisor.
Speak and listen effectively with supervisors, customers, and college employees.
Maintain a demonstrated interest in learning new ideas.
Maintain an appropriate image and dress.
Establish and maintain a high level of customer service.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and procedure manuals.
Basic mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Apply common sense to follow written or oral instructions and solve standardized problems.
Basic computer skills.
Attend Serv‑Safe/HACCP course within one year of employment.
Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, lift up to 80 pounds, and handle wet or humid conditions.
Comfortable working in extreme hot or cold, with chemicals or fumes, and moderate to loud noise levels.
Understand safety data sheets (SOS) and comply with relevant health codes.
Flexibility to work overtime or weekends with minimal notice.
Pay:
$19.77 per hour Work Schedule:
Nights and weekends
