Machinist Position Overview
The Machinist position is responsible for set‑up and running all the machine tools in the machine shop necessary to produce the wide variety of parts that complement our equipment, plan various operations required to machine components accurately and economically, and resolve questions on drawings and parts orders with the appropriate departments.
Qualifications
Dedication to excellence and a quality output
Two‑year minimum experience in a manufacturing environment
General understanding of manufacturing principles and procedures
General math skills
Read, write and interpret complex PRAB blueprints and lists of materials
Precision machining and fabrication of components and assemblies from blueprints and sketches
Be familiar with the construction of the machine shop equipment and maintain
Work effectively without supervision
Accurately read precision measuring equipment
Responsibilities
Promote excellence throughout the department
Ability to make quality parts quickly and within precise tolerances
Perform high quality welds with an arc welder on various materials
Track and requisition consumable and production stock supplies
Stock inventory in proper locations on a timely basis
Perform quality control inspections
Continuous improvement is expected in all critical activities such as overall product quality and appearances, safety and productivity
The employee will supply all basic tools required to perform the above operations
Perform other tasks as required by the supervisor
Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
