MAJOR FUNCTION: The Patient Access Representative is primarily responsible for the registration of all patients, ensuring that all points of registration (Emergency Room, Outpatient, SDS and Admitting) obtain accurate patient information and that patients are made aware of hospital policies and procedures. Receives and records accurate demographic, financial and insurance information for all patients registered. Verifies all insurances in HDX system and determines the patient’s financial responsibility amount via Recondo, the hospital insurance estimation tool. Requests and collects the patient responsibility amount at time of service, if applicable through our Patient Co application. Reviews and explains hospital consent form and all required registration documents to patients, according to department scripting, in addition to securing patient signatures on forms.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalency required. Some college and/or CHAA certified preferred.

Hospital and Insurance registration experience preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

N/A

Knowledge & Skills:

Base knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding is preferred.

Computer proficiency required. Typing skills of 30-40 WPM required.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse population while maintaining a professional attitude and providing great customer service.

Ability to travel among hospital sites preferred.

Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus.
