Maryland Transit Administration A-Repairman – Light Rail Railcar Maintenance (Repairman‑Rail) (8092) Open to all qualified employees. Bilingual applicants are encouraged. Applicants must apply online.

Location Transit Administration (MTA), Baltimore, Maryland.

Schedule 24‑hour shift schedule; work may include evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Position Overview The A Repairman inspects, diagnoses, and repairs light rail vehicles and their components. Duties include operating service equipment such as trucks, forklifts, shop carts, 20‑ton cranes, and hoists. The candidate must handle situations impacting revenue operations and perform tasks per MDOT manuals, schematics, and parts lists.

Minimum Qualifications Education:

High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:

Three (3) years of experience in electronics, electricity, mechanics, and/or an electro‑mechanical field of work.

Strong computer skills.

Substitution U.S. Armed Forces military service that involved staff work related to rules, regulations, policies, procedures, processes, unit operations, or staff assistance may substitute for the required education and experience on an equivalent basis.

Special Requirements

Maintain reliable communication link for emergency call‑back requirements.

Work shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Be exposed to hazards requiring protective clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Employee is considered “Essential” and must sign all Essential Employee policies.

Subject to background investigation; convictions are not automatic disqualification.

Subject to pre‑employment drug and substance abuse testing per federal and state regulations.
