Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to apply for the position of Repairman – Electro/Mechanic (8092R) in the Metro Facilities Maintenance department, Local 1300, located in Baltimore City.

The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities • Perform building maintenance functions associated with the jobs of electrician, plumber, carpenter, painter, sewer repairman, gardener, mason, or others as may be required.

• Operate and maintain heating plants and other related equipment.

• Inspect, replace, repair, maintain, diagnose, and correct conditions and perform other jobs of a similar nature as may be required, with the aid of minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Graduation from high school or possession of a high‑school equivalency certificate.

Experience:

Five (5) years of experience in electronics, electricity, mechanics and/or electro‑mechanical maintenance. Computer skills highly desirable.

Substitution:

Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year‑for‑year basis for the required education and experience.

CDL Requirement:

Applicants must possess a valid CDL license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Maryland.

Employees may attend and participate in safety meetings and should report hazards, unsafe acts, near misses, injuries, and accidents immediately to the Office of Safety and supervision. Employees must refrain from willful violations of safety rules and procedures, reckless and negligent behavior, involvement in criminal activities, and the misuse of drugs or alcohol. Failure to adhere to this requirement may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. Employees may only perform work for which they have the appropriate safety training.
