Who We Want Team Leader helps facilitate work activities and ensures that work activities are performed according to policy, procedure, and process. The role guarantees safety, quality and productivity requirements are met.
First line of support to team members when abnormal conditions exist
Escalate issues so that appropriate resources are involved when abnormalities occur
Ensure continuity of operations by filling in for team members when necessary (absenteeism, break periods, etc.)
Work on continuous improvement projects
What You’ll Do
Oversee personnel loading and unloading trucks, verifying counts and inspecting for damaged packaging
Ensure safe operation of equipment by team members
Train team members on various processes, procedures and job tasks within their work zone
Certify team members on individual workstations to satisfy each level of progression on the skills matrix
Track and communicate status for inbound/outbound truck schedules
Maintain constant communication with supervisor and forklift drivers
Verify EDI requirements and set up/manage loads
Lead and assist shipping personnel as needed
Spot check labeling of staged containers throughout the day
Enforce FIFO procedures set in place
Follow plant rules including proper dress, hair, and cell phone usage
When & Where This is a 2nd Shift (2:00 PM–10:00 PM), Monday–Friday position located at the Holland, MI plant. Occasionally, early arrival, late departure, or weekend work may be required to meet customer needs.
What You Need To Have
Must be 18 years of age or older
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties
Able to stand for 8–10 hours a day and be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position
High school diploma or GED; or 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to maintain quality and safety standards
Ability to read and write and understand work instructions
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment
Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers
Ability to perform simple arithmetic
Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel
Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods
Ability to operate a PC and scanner gun
Has high standards of performance for self
Takes responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes
Is thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks; demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work
Takes positive action to objectively resolve conflict by listening and staying focused on the issue to find resolution, and monitoring progress
