Temp - Laboratory - Pathology Assistant (Days) Pittsfield, MA

This vital role involves the preparation, gross description, and dissection of surgical pathology specimens, as well as conducting postmortem examinations under the supervision of licensed pathologists. Key Responsibilities: Prepare, describe, and dissect surgical pathology specimens with precision. Perform accurate postmortem examinations under direction. Ensure careful collection, labeling, and documentation of specimens. Utilize HIS, LIS, and laboratory instrumentation efficiently. Exercise independent judgment in scheduling and organizing work. Adapt to emergency situations, including working extended hours or shifts as needed. Maintain high levels of accuracy and alertness over extended periods. Required Skills:
Current (PA) ASCP certification; equivalent certifications are not accepted. Proficiency in using HIS, LIS, and relevant laboratory equipment. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proper specimen handling. Ability to work independently with initiative. Flexibility to work additional hours or shifts during emergencies. Excellent time management and stress tolerance. Nice to Have Skills:
Experience working in a hospital or pathology laboratory. Familiarity with current laboratory technology and updates. Prior experience in postmortem examinations. Preferred Education and Experience:
Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant (PA) with relevant laboratory experience. Previous work experience in surgical pathology or autopsy procedures. Other Requirements:
Reside outside of 50 miles from the facility to be eligible. Ability to work weekdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Availability to start on 12/29/2025. Total hourly rate of $71.02. Accountability for timely time-off requests (up to 5 days, noted during onboarding). Willingness to work an 8-hour shift in a fast-paced environment.
