Position Overview The Manufacturing Engineer I is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of assembly and packaging equipment used in medical manufacturing environments. This role partners cross-functionally with suppliers, engineering teams, and operations to deliver high-quality, efficient, and compliant manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design assembly and packaging equipment and create User Requirements Specifications (URS) aligned with manufacturing standards
Develop and implement process designs for new equipment and technologies
Lead supplier relationships and external design teams for capital equipment projects
Create and obtain detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software
Optimize equipment designs for cost efficiency, changeover time, maintainability, and manufacturability
Perform engineering analyses to validate and optimize equipment designs
Manage equipment development projects from requirements through implementation and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
Select vendors, manage procurement, and ensure successful equipment integration
Provide engineering and equipment cost inputs for business cases
Validate that equipment designs meet safety, quality, and operational standards
Collaborate with suppliers on automation process optimization
Analyze process performance data from existing manufacturing operations
Manage vendor contracts in collaboration with procurement and legal teams
Develop innovative mechanical systems based on project requirements and industry standards
Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including assembly instructions and bills of process
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Support prototype development and testing activities
Coordinate with electrical and mechanical engineers for full system integration
Provide technical expertise to resolve production issues
Design equipment to meet production targets, quality standards, uptime, and serviceability requirements
Deliver projects on time and within budget
