Scope/Purpose of the Position The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of shipping, receiving, and material-handling operations within the packaging warehouse, shipping dock, and freezer warehouse. This role ensures safe, accurate, and efficient execution of all inbound and outbound activities, proper inventory handling, and strong housekeeping and safety standards. The Warehouse Supervisor prioritizes daily workloads, directs warehouse personnel, and ensures all scheduled pickups and deliveries are completed accurately and on time. This position plays a key role in supporting Production, Supply Chain, and Quality by maintaining inventory accuracy, clear communication, and disciplined execution of warehouse processes.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions Supervise daily shipping, receiving, and material-handling operations across the packaging warehouse, shipping dock, and freezer warehouse. Prioritize and assign daily tasks to ensure all scheduled pickups, deliveries, and internal material movements are completed accurately and on time. Oversee accurate receiving of raw materials into the inventory system, including correct quantities, lot codes, and expiration dates. Ensure accuracy, organization, and proper status control of finished goods in the freezer warehouse (available for sale, Quality Hold, R&D Hold). Monitor packaging material usage during production to ensure correct materials and lot codes are used in accordance with SOPs. Maintain warehouse safety, housekeeping, and equipment standards, including proper operation of material-handling equipment. Train and onboard new material handlers on job responsibilities, department SOPs, GMPs, and company policies and procedures. Coordinate daily workload and priorities with the logistics team to ensure feasible and accurate shipping schedules. Assist the logistics team as needed with order picking, driver paperwork, pickup scheduling, and sample requests. Support inventory accuracy through proper documentation and timely system transactions. Perform other duties as assigned to support warehouse and plant operations. Collaboration: Work closely with Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Maintenance, and Shipping to support material flow and plant priorities. Communicate proactively with internal teams regarding inventory discrepancies, shipping delays, shortages, or operational concerns. Foster teamwork and effective communication across departments to support safe and efficient operations. Compliance: Ensure adherence to all company policies, safety requirements, GMPs, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, FDA, FSMA, SQF as applicable). Enforce proper handling, storage, labeling, documentation, and sanitation practices within all warehouse areas.
Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervise material handlers, receivers, forklift operators, and shipping/receiving personnel. Provide day-to-day direction, training, coaching, and performance feedback to warehouse team members. Support the Warehouse Manager with onboarding, scheduling, and performance management as required.
Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in warehouse, shipping/receiving, or material-handling operations within a manufacturing or food production environment. Prior experience supervising or leading warehouse personnel in a fast-paced operation. Hands-on experience with inventory systems or ERP transactions, including receiving, material movements, and shipping documentation. Experience working in freezer, refrigerated, or temperature-controlled warehouse environments.
Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Skills/experience related to working with a WMS, ERP, or inventory management software preferred.
Preferred Qualifications Current and valid OSHA forklift operation certification strongly preferred. Familiarity with food manufacturing rules/requirements Physical Requirements Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb (including stairs/ladders). Ability to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Physical dexterity necessary to handle supplies, machine parts, and tools. Vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to operate or learn to operate

Work Environment The role is based on the production floor, which may include exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and noise levels. Work involves standing for extended periods and frequent movement, including walking and bending. Employees may handle or be in proximity to food ingredients, including allergens (e.g., wheat, dairy). Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times, including hairnets, beard nets (if applicable), gloves, and
safety shoes. The environment requires adherence to strict sanitation and safety standards. Work may include entering refrigerated or cold-storage environments. Frequent interaction with forklifts and other active warehouse traffic. Must be able to safely navigate production and warehouse areas during operational activities.
