Senior Estimator - Structural Steel

*Overview* The Senior Structural Steel Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection projects. This role requires extensive industry experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead estimating efforts from bid review through final proposal submission. The Senior Estimator works closely with project management, detailing, purchasing, and operations to ensure estimates reflect current market conditions and company capabilities. *Essential Duties and Responsibilities* 1. Review bid invitations, drawings, and specifications to determine project scope and requirements 2. Prepare detailed takeoffs for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and related materials 3. Prepare estimate prices on change orders on existing contracts assuring proper accounting 4. Read and understand job bid instructions and detailed specifications 5. Estimate all necessary labor, materials, buyout items and equipment costs 6. Analyze historical data and current market pricing to ensure competitive and accurate bids 7. Ensure projects meet cost requirements 8. Meet with Sr. Project Manager if costs exceed budget and obtain permission before approving out-of-budget costs 9. Interface with necessary department and subcontractors to determine the scheduling of work and materials 10. Coordinate with Purchasing to obtain vendor and subcontractor pricing 11. Meet with key personnel to ensure timelines of each project 12. Participate in pre-bid meetings, scope reviews, and post-bid negotiations 13. Meet and confer with Owner, Architect, Engineers, Contractors, Detailers, Plant & Field crews to verify accuracy & completeness of all construction drawings 14. Reviews plans and proposals to determine proper procedures in order to accomplish company goals 15. Ensure all aspects of projects are properly and thoroughly documented to ensure Weldway’s interests are protected 16. Implementation of goals to increase Weldway Steel Fab, Inc.’s reputation with General Contractors. ** The above list describes general level of work being performed in this job.** *Qualifications* * Minimum *7–10 years of estimating experience* in the structural steel industry * Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, erection processes, and AISC standards * Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., FabSuite, FabTrol, Tekla EPM, or similar) * Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings and specifications * Advanced Excel skills and strong mathematical aptitude * Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills * Strong written and verbal communication skills Specialized Knowledge: * Thorough understanding of Structural steel and Architectural design drawings and details * Comprehensive Steel construction terminology and concepts Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year Benefits: * Dental insurance * Health insurance * Paid time off * Retirement plan Experience: * Tekla: 6 years (Preferred) * Construction estimating: 7 years (Required) * Structural steel : 7 years (Required) Work Location: In person
