Job Description Job Description Tooling Engineer | Allendale, MI Salary Range: $74,000 - $113,000 depending on experience Are you a skilled professional with a passion for designing and improving tooling for manufacturing processes? The Opportunity We are partnering with organizations in Allendale that are seeking Tooling Engineers. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize new and existing tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures for manufacturing processes. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for tooling-related production issues and defects. Manage the maintenance, repair, and modification of production tooling to ensure operational readiness and extend lifespan. Evaluate and select appropriate tooling materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes to meet product specifications and cost targets. Collaborate with manufacturing, design, and quality teams to improve tooling performance, efficiency, and reliability. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for tooling specifications, designs, maintenance schedules, and spare parts. Provide technical support and training to production personnel on tooling setup, operation, and troubleshooting. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in tooling design, manufacturing, or maintenance within a production environment. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for tooling design and analysis. Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, stamping, machining) and materials science. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and implement corrective actions for tooling issues. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles. Bonus Qualifications Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software for tool validation. Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification. Proficiency in additive manufacturing (3D printing) for prototyping or tooling inserts. Hands-on experience with CNC machining, EDM, or tool room operations.
