First (Days) Overview: Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Clinical Nurse Specialist for a Full-Time role in Charlottesville, VA. About the position: Reporting directly to the CNO, the Clinical Nurse Specialist will focus on disease specific conditions for the global nursing team. Special projects may include readmissions, hospital acquired infections, developing processes and identifying educational opportunities for the clinical staff. The CNS may assist the larger education team with clinical skill level assessments to identify opportunities for improvements. This is an onsite position with offices located at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. Hours : Primarily business hours Monday to Friday, some variations for projects and reporting may be required for staff monitoring and assessments. Some evening or weekend hours to accommodate these projects are possible based on project/assessment needs of the hospital. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) demonstrates advanced and specialized clinical knowledge and skills to facilitate the provision of patient/family-focused care to promote health and/or well-being improve quality of life; drive practice changes throughout the organization and ensure use of evidence-based care to improve patient outcomes. This individual provides expertise and support either directly or indirectly by influencing patients/families, nurses/nursing practice, and organization/systems through direct care, leadership, coaching, research, ethical decision making, collaboration, and consultation.

- Registered Nursing License Required
- Licensed Certified Nurse Specialist in Virginia Required
- BLS required
- Additional Nurse Certifications preferred (CCRN, CMS, or other)
- 2 years of acute nursing experience required
- 2 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Nurse Specialist required
- Learning and Development experience required
- Educational and Skills assessment skills required
- Experience with disease specific reporting and project implementation required
- Software skills in Epic, MS Office Suite, and reporting required
