Duties

Serves as the lead lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.

Performs lifeguarding duties and limited management functions. Ensures the safe operation of the pool, filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water test.

Responsible for pool patrons safety/health in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Provides maximum surveillance of pool area and rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required.

Attends aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Adheres to the Customer Service standards of the Installation. Keeps accurate records/reports and adequate supplies.

Leads the work of other employees. Passes on to other workers instructions received from the supervisor and starts work. Distributes and balances work- load assuring that each employee has enough work to keep busy.

Requirements

Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.

Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.

A one-year probationary period may be required.

Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.

Position, duty hours, location and/or activity are subject to change based on mission requirements.

Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.

Must have current health assessment which documents good physical health, freedom from communicable disease IAW current Army policy.

Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.

Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.

May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.

Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty.

Lead lifeguards must have good vision (corrected vision if necessary) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.

Conducts safety/health rule briefings to groups prior to use of the pool.

In addition, the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
