Position Description: The Ingram School of Engineering of Texas State University has launched a new Mechanical Engineering program that incorporates Industry 4.0 tools and technologies throughout the curriculum to prepare students who can design and develop mechanical and thermal systems that are intelligent, interconnected, and integrated with the virtual world and emerging digital infrastructures. Currently, the program seeks to fill a tenure-track position in thermal‑fluids sciences at the Assistant Professor level to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded research program in their area of expertise, exhibit a strong commitment to student‑centered teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and graduate levels, participate in curriculum and program development, and perform university and professional service.

Required Qualifications

An earned Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.

Academic and research background in the field of thermal‑fluids sciences.

Research competence evidenced by publications related to thermal‑fluids sciences in peer‑reviewed journals and conference proceedings.

Demonstrated excellence in communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

A research focus in one of the following areas: micro/nano‑fluidics (for devices such as data chips), renewable energy systems and energy storage, biomedical applications (such as drug delivery), or hypersonic flows.

Postdoctoral and/or industrial experience.

Record of teaching experience in the U.S.

Expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

An ability to work collaboratively with faculty across multiple departments and programs.

Knowledge of ABET accreditation procedures and deliverables.

Demonstrated experience writing and securing grants and contracts.
