Work Schedule: 5 days per week (day shifts), local - home daily positions
Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 (non-eligible if you worked for a Performance Food Group owned company within the last 6 months)
Position Purpose Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers' products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, and they are the face of our company – building lasting relationships with customers.
Drivers are responsible for operating a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive‑and‑drop routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and related products to customers in a safe and timely manner in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Primary Responsibilities
Communicate and interact with customers, vendors and co‑workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.
Act as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspections of tractor/truck and trailer in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety standards; report all safety issues and required repairs.
Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices.
Complete required paperwork accurately and legibly, including freight documents and daily hours of service logs in compliance with Federal DOT, state and company requirements.
Move tractor to the loading dock, attach pre‑loaded trailer, drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route delivery schedule.
Unload products from the trailer and transport items to designated customer storage areas; perform damage‑control checks, scan items and contact supervisor per company policy.
Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures.
Collect payment (cash or checks) where required; load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors.
Ensure tractor, trailer and freight are appropriately locked and secured at all times.
Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring them to driver check‑in, complete necessary paperwork, and remove trash from trailers as required.
Maintain general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean.
At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
6+ months of commercial driving experience
High school diploma/GED or state‑approved equivalent
Valid CDL A license
Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
Must be 21 years of age or older
Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check
Pass road test
Valid current DOT Health Card and/or ability to secure a new DOT Health Card
Able to hand‑lift and utilize two‑wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying weight ranging from 10–35 pounds up to 90 pounds, as required during the shift.
