Description of Work Caseworkers facilitate growth, behavioral and emotional improvements to individuals and their families, maintaining current and accurate documentation and records of clients and services. They receive reports of suspected abuse and/or neglect of children within the county, meet with children and caregivers, and determine if children are safe. Caseworkers may recommend medical attention for injured children. The most important aspect of this position is to be able to help a child who may not have the skills, knowledge, or ability to help themselves.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full‑time employment.

Work hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.

Caseworkers may be required to work irregular hours depending on child/family availability.

On‑call is required.

Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework including 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or

A bachelor’s degree with or supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training including 12 college credits in the above fields and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or similar paraprofessional case‑management position.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements

A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

Under the law, a conditional offer requires submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
