Position Summary Streetlight Bucket Operator performs work from aerial devices and ladders to install and maintain streetlights and related equipment. Working hours typically a 10‑hour day.
Key Responsibilities
Operate various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come‑alongs, handling, etc.).
Clear work area and maintain safe jobsite conditions; assist with work and material assembly from the ground.
Excavate to assist in the installation of structures or cables as required by contract specification.
Communicate with public and private property owners regarding the work to be performed.
Be exposed to traffic and may be required to have training on traffic flagging.
Perform all other duties as required or requested by supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
Able to:
Meet and maintain weight restrictions for bucket trucks as identified by the manufacturer.
Work long hours and overtime, emergencies, weekends, etc.; subject to call‑out work.
Work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
Work efficiently and effectively while working at heights.
Safely enter and exit the aerial device and rear end of the bucket and derrick trucks.
Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
Valid Driver’s License required.
CDL preferred.
Ability to pass DOT physical and obtain DOT medical card required.
Travel Requirements Must be willing to travel out of town/state for regular/emergency storm work.
Physical Requirements
RARE: (less than 10%) – Sitting, kneeling, crawling, color vision, climbing stairs.
OCCASIONAL: (up to 33%) – Stooping, squatting, climbing on/off truck, climbing ladders, pushing, reading, lifting up to 50 lbs.
FREQUENT: (up to 66%) – Carrying, pulling, balancing, body‑twisting, hearing/speech range, lifting (up to 10 lbs.), manual dexterity, speaking clearly, walking.
CONTINUOUS: (up to 100%) – Standing, sense of touch, gripping, seeing, reaching, range of motion, depth perception, lifting over 10–50 lbs., climbing.
