Job Duties
Assist Fisheries Division staff with field collections of fish community data for several research studies conducted by the Missouri River Program.
Assist with fisheries research studies on the Missouri River under the direction of the Missouri River Program Manager and Project Biologist.
Standardized fish sampling (boat electrofishing, gill nets, hoop nets), habitat sampling, weighing and measuring fish and/or macroinvertebrate species.
Assist with age and growth analyses.
Perform necessary laboratory work and data entry under limited supervision.
Maintain and repair fisheries equipment and vehicles (nets, sampling gear, boats, boat motors, trailers, trucks).
Perform all related work as required.
Responsibilities This role requires physical labor outdoors on boats under adverse weather, flexible scheduling, overnight travel 1‑3 nights per week, occasional weekend and holiday work.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum 1 year experience or 1 year coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources, biology, and/or agriculture.
Driver’s license required.
Knowledge of fisheries management, fish handling protocols, fish and macroinvertebrate species identification, and operation, care, and repair of fisheries equipment and vehicles.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to follow instructions, maintain records, enter data.
